ASHLEY — Robert "Knobsy" Dwojewski, of Ashley, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after unexpectedly falling ill on June 22.
He was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre. He was the son of the late Joseph and Irene Olszewski Dwojewski. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and "tax guy" who owned and operated B&L Tax Services.
Knobsy was from the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre and graduated from Mary Mount High School in 1968. He was a journeyman lineman for Sordoni Construction and then later employed by Service Electric for many years.
He was an avid baseball player who played on many local softball teams. He was a lover of blackjack at the casino and sports, especially rooting for his favorite Philadelphia teams.
He was a loyal friend always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, especially if his MacGyver skills were needed. His quick-witted sense of humor will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank Geisinger ICU for excellent and compassionate care.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Steven Dwojewski, and his wife, Lisa, of Lehighton, and Matthew Dwojewski, of West Pittston; daughters Michal Ann Dwojewski and her partner, David Gower, of Nanticoke, and Sara Elizabeth Dwojewski and her partner, Ryan Hiltwine, of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Amy and Robert Dwojewski, Skyller Dwojewski and Zack Gower; brother Joseph Dwojewski and his wife, Arlene, of Shavertown; sister Barbara Wilson and her partner, Charlie Perrella, of Hanover Township; partner, Susan "Bubba" Davis, of Wilkes-Barre; and loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend John S. Terry, pastor, will be celebrant. Barb and Family,
It's hard to believe that 50 years have passed since the Marymount 68 team played and sobering to hear we lost our adroit shortstop, cynical skills critic and friend.
Barb, dealing with the loss of a sibling is difficult but time calls for change and it is best to accept those changes. Focus on the good times, those special family moments and Robert's memory will endure. Rest in Pease old teammate and friend.
With sympathy,
Bernard Remakus, M.D.
