Robert A. Stella

PLAINS TWP. — Robert A. Stella, of Plains Township, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Bob, lovingly referred to as "Bootsy," was born in the Keystone section of Plains Township to the late Fred and Amelia (Mascelli) Stella.

Bob was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1961. He began his career working as a truck driver at Pagnotti Enterprises and as a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel, and later became a laborer and operating engineer at Addy Asphalt.

In 1982, Bob founded the family business of Stell Enterprises Inc., paving and excavating, which is now one of the most highly respected construction companies in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Bob passed the business down to his son, Robert M. Stella ("Robby"), in 2017, but continued to operate until the week of his passing. His dedication to Stell Enterprises and love for the industry will never be forgotten.

His high school sweetheart and wife, Arlene (Solovey) Stella, proceeded him in death, in April 2023. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on September 14. Bob is survived by his son, Robby Stella and his wife Marisa (Zimich) Stella; granddaughters: Mara Stella and her fiancé John Terrana, and Kyra Stella. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, who he loved dearly. Bob loved traveling and dining out with his wife, hunting and fishing with his son, and spending time at the river and lake with his family.

The family would also like to thank Traditional Hospice for their compassion and care during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to The Medical Oncology Prescription Fund, and mailed to Dr. Greenwald's office at 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704, which assists in covering costs of prescriptions for oncology patients.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township. Public viewing hours will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

All funeral services will be held privately at the family's convenience. Robert will be laid to rest with his wife in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
