Robert Unger Obituary

Robert T. Unger, 85, of Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, died on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Hospice Care of the VNA, Inpatient Unit, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Berwick, on May 22, 1925, and was a son of the late Truman and Clara Lowe Unger. He graduated from Forty Fort High School. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had resided in Forty Fort and Kingston most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was a manager for Wise Snack Foods, Forty Fort, for 39 years. Robert was a member of the Forty Fort Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the VFW. Preceding him in death were his wife, Barbara Bell Unger, in 1992; and a sister, Joanne. Surviving are his daughters, Joyce Bempkins and her husband, Bill, Forty Fort, and Sharon Houseal and her husband, Steve, Harleysville, Pa.; sister, Nancy Kenison, Los Gatos, Calif.; three grandchildren, triplets Laura, Valerie and Allie; as well as nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with his pastor, the Rev. William M. Lukesh, officiating. The interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Hospice Care of the VNA, 80 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, or to the Forty Fort Presbyterian Church, 1224 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA 18704.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I remember me and Kevin helping him with your Grand Mothers house after the flood. It was always good when you all came down for a visit from way up by the airport. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
