Ronald Ulitchney Obituary

Ronald H. Ulitchney Sr., 65, a resident of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after being stricken at his home.
Mr. Ulitchney was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Frank A. and Anna (Tarasek) Ulitchney, and was a graduate of the class of 1957, James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. While a student, he was on the football team and was a pitcher/catcher on the 1956 Coughlin High School Championship Baseball Team. He had been employed by the Wilkes-Barre City Department of Public Works; Craft Associates, Wilkes-Barre; Kingston Juvenile Products, Kingston; and Allside Building Products, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 1992 due to a disability. He had resided in Wilkes-Barre and Plains Township most of his life.
He was a devoted husband and brother, a proud father, loving grandfather and concerned uncle. He was a committed New York Yankees, Notre Dame and Penn State fan. He had coached for Parsons Little League Baseball and Plains Yankees mini-football team for many years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the North End Slovak Citizens Club. He and his wife, the former Mona Gould, had recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He also was preceded in death by a brother Francis Ulitchney.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Suzanne and Thomas Jastrem, Phoenixville; Karen and Thomas Heinz, Wilkes-Barre; son and daughter-in-law Ronald H. and Debbie Ulitchney Jr., Trucksville; grandchildren Thomas (T.J.) Jastrem, a student at Pennsylvania State University, State College; Andrew W. Jastrem, Phoenixville; and Karlie Marie Heinz, Wilkes-Barre; brother Joseph Ulitchney, Wilkes-Barre; nephews and nieces-in-law William and Debbie Gould, Nanticoke; and Robert J. and Marcia Gould Jr., San Diego, Calif.; niece and nephew-in-law Debbie and Daniel Millington, Castle Rock, Colo.; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday from H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Joseph M. Horanzy, M.S., pastor, will be the celebrant and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Christian Wake service will be conducted Thursday afternoon. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial gifts be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 666 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.
