WYOMING— Rosemary A. Gorey, 81, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023.
Born in Kingston, Rosemary was the oldest of the seven children born to Edmund Pieczynski and Helen Klocko, granddaughter of Alexander and Rose Pieczynski and Stanley and Johanna Klocko.
Rose attended Wyoming Area Grade School and graduated from West Side Central Catholic in Kingston. Upon graduation, she worked in the billing department of Pennsylvania Gas and Water company. She worked with her father as a vendor for the office of the blind. Her favorite job was working with her brother Ed in his restaurant "Someplace."
Rosemary also took interior classes at Penn State University.
She enjoyed being one of the founders of the Dallas Taxpayer Forum. It was truly a learning experience for her. She helped to get over 1,000 people to a school board meeting, in an effort to keep school taxes at bay. She also enjoyed being a member of the Luzerne County Public Forum.
Rose loved spending time in her yard landscaping. She also enjoyed roaming on weekends with her husband Ben.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin W. Gorey in 2011. They had been married for 49-1/2 years after meeting when Rose was a junior in High School. They enjoyed every moment together, exploring towns and the countryside on weekends and vacations.
Surviving are her children Ben Jr. and his wife Suzanna Bernd; Ed and his wife Kristi; and Roseann and her husband Bill Lewis.
Rose was very proud of her grandchildren, Nathan, Nick, Emily, Madeline, Cooper and Samantha. She was the most loving grandmother and took such pride in all of their achievements, talents and adventures.
Go with God.
