Ruth Tabaka Obituary
WILKES-BARRE — Ruth Tabaka, 88, formerly of Jenkins Township and Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Golden Living Center, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born April 10, 1926, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Nehemiah and Mary Lane. She attended GAR Memorial High School, and along with her late husband owned and operated the College Inn Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre, and the Highlander Laundromat, Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Tabaka Sr.; daughter, Linda Lee Garrison; grandson, Michael Garrison; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her children, Ruth Raviol, William J. Kane, Stanley A. Tabaka Jr., Thomas Tabaka Sr., Theodore Tabaka, Edward Tabaka; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours. The parish Rosary Group will recite the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet at 9 a.m. Thursday in the church.
