Ruth Mae Wagner

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Ruth Mae Wagner, 87, of Hackettstown, N.J., passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2019, at Hackettstown Medical Center.

Ruth was born on Sept.15, 1931, in Pittston to the late Jacob and Helen Kurzea.

She was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1950. She married the love of her life, Michael Wagner, in 1955. Together, they celebrated 46 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2001. Ruth was employed as a salesperson for Kmart and W.T. Grant for many years prior to her retirement in 1982. She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra. She loved traveling to Williamsburg, Va. Ruth was an avid reader and an animal lover, particularly dogs. She enjoyed gardening and was an incredible cook and baker. She will fondly be remembered for her Christmas cookies, lemon meringue pie and her roast beef dinners. Above all, Ruth loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her loving children, son Carl J. Wagner; and daughter Melissa M. Wagner; two grandchildren, Brian and Bobby Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Aerawyn, Emerson and Kellen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark W. Wagner and Michael J. Wagner; and her sister, Joanne Dovin.

A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held at a later date.
