Sheila Mack Obituary

NEWPORT TWP. — Sheila J. Mack, 88, of Glen Lyon, Newport Township, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the Lakewood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nanticoke.

She was born in Oxford, England, on April 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Alfred and Beatrice (Light) Aistrope. She was educated in England and made her home in Glen Lyon with her husband, Chester. They met while he was serving in the U.S. military.

Sheila was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Glen Lyon. Sheila was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family and especially for special occasions.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Chester Mack Jr., on July 4, 2020; and sister, Audrey Spradley.

Surviving are her daughter, Denise Whittaker and husband, James, Sheatown, Pa.; sons: Steven Mack, York Haven, Pa.; and Chester Mack and his wife, Karen, Glen Lyon, Pa;, one granddaughter, Nicole Whittaker and her husband, Edward, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from George A Strish, Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon.

Donations can be made in her memory to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
