Sophie Boyle Obituary

Sophie A. Boyle, 95, a resident of Mercy Center, Dallas, formerly of Scranton, passed away Wednesday at Mercy Center.
Born July 14, 1910, a daughter of the late Frank and Kazmiera (Romanowski) Kurowski. She attended the Scranton public schools. Before retiring she was employed at Clearview Silk Mill, Scranton. Before moving to Dallas, she was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1957; brothers Frank, Michael, Joseph, Leo, and Edward Kurowski; sisters Ann Bojchuski, Helen Fairchok, Della Kurowski, Estelle Inhat and Charlotte Elliott.
She was a strong woman and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed polkas and won contests that were held years ago at Rocky Glen Park.
Surviving are her daughter, Robin Rogers, Lehman; granddaughter Lori Kisley, Ph.D., Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandson Jon Michael Rogers, Mechanicsburg; four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mercy Center Chapel with Monsignor William Ward officiating. Interment will be in Nicholson Cemetery, Nicholson.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Center Chapel Fund or the Hospice to the Sacred Heart.
Arrangements are by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
