Sophie Chisko Obituary

Deep peace of the running waves to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the smiling stars to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the watching shepherds to you.
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.
Sophie Alice Chisko, Edwardsville, died peacefully on Tuesday evening in the home where she was born on the day before she would have celebrated her 95th birthday.
Sophie was a daughter of the late Mark Mojek and Frances (Kuzimier) Mojek Suroviec. She attended Edwardsville schools and went on to become one of the region’s first practical nurses, a career she pursued for many years, primary in private duty. She was well-known and deeply loved for her cheerful nature, her strength of character and her tireless effort on behalf of her family, her patients, her neighbors and her church, St. Hedwig’s, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Chisko; sisters Katherine Kuharcik, Michalina Victor, Helen Victor and Violet Moyer. Surviving are sisters Lillian Moyer and Genevieve Victor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Hedwig’s Church. Interment will be in parish cemetery, Larksville. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until the time of service Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Hedwig’s Church, 207 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.

I took care of Sophie as did many other people the last few weeks. She was a wonderful lady and never complained. I'm sure she is resting in heaven.

Sophie will be remembered by me and, I'm certain, by all of the Burnside children who, growing up, were so fortunate to know her.
