MOOSIC — Sylvester "Sam" Coccia, 70, of Moosic, formerly of Old Forge, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Oct. 22, 2021, at his home, with loved ones by his side. His wife, Marjorie, passed away in 1991.

He was the loving son of Grace Calvo Coccia, and the late Joseph Coccia, of Old Forge. He was a graduate of Old Forge High School, and the proprietor of Eastern Auto Exchange.

Sam was an avid classic car enthusiast, and had a passion for meticulously restoring his classic cars, paying attention to every detail. He was accomplished in many ways, whether it was home remodeling, rebuilding an engine, or fixing just about anything that could break. Known as a loving father/papa, his greatest joy of all was being with his grandchildren. Sam's smile was infectious and would always light up a room.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Gilchrist, and husband Joe, of Moosic; two grandchildren, Joseph and Preston Gilchrist; a brother, Joseph Coccia, and wife JoAnn, of Pittston; two sisters, Lynda M. Coccia, of Laflin, and Paula Piccolini and husband Vince, of Old Forge; his companion, Christine Parlopiano, of Moosic; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private viewing and Funeral Mass with interment in Old Forge Cemetery was held at the convenience of the family.
