KINGSTON — Tabitha Lynn Calabrese, 25, of Kingston, passed away Sept. 30, 2014, at home. She was born in Kingston on Jan. 19, 1989. She is the daughter of Kim Roccograndi and David Calabrese.
Tabitha was a 2007 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, attended Allied Medical, then furthered her career in the military.
Tabitha was a member of the 55th Brigade, a two-time war veteran serving in Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2013, after years of hard work and dedication, she was promoted to sergeant.
Tabitha was the first female regular member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1425 and was their chaplain. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a corrections officer at SCI State Prison, Coal Township.
Tabitha was preceded in death by her grandmother, Genevieve Dorrance.
Tabitha will be greatly missed by her mother and stepfather, Kim and Paul Roccograndi, Larksville; father and stepmother, David and Angie Calabrese; brother, Gage Calabrese, Swoyersville; maternal grandparents, Joyce Kehler and Joe Girman, Pittston, Bob and Claire Roccograndi, Larksville; paternal grandparents, Pat Calabrese, Swoyersville, John and Martha Calabrese, Swoyersville, Angela Chapman, Northumberland; godparents, Joyce Coolbaugh, Hanover Township, Perry Coolbaugh Sr., Dallas; godson, Luke Hadsall. Numerous aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and cousins also survive.
Tabitha is also survived by the love of her life, Shawn Jenks, and his daughter, Brooke; best friend and cousin, Amber Coolbaugh.
Tabitha enjoyed life to the fullest, Tabitha never sat down. She preferred giving rather than receiving, waiting on someone rather than being waited on. Her loss will be felt by many, as she touched so many lives with her love, generosity, loyalty, understanding and kindness. She never had an unkind word about anyone. She was simply perfect. Family and friends were most important to her. Her loving heart will be missed by so many, especially her pets, Jack, Lady, Mafosa and Simba.
Funeral services for Tabitha will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Willow Street, Plymouth. Interment will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers donations in Tabitha's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Dave and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am absolutely heartbroken over Tabitha's passing. I may have only met her a handful of times, but she truly lit up the room wherever she was. The world lost an amazing person that day, but Heaven gained an angel, and you gained someone to watch over you and protect Gage. You know she won't let anything happen to her little bro.
I send hugs, prayers, thoughts, and anything else that I can beam over to you guys. You have been such a close part of the family and I wish there was more I could say or do to help ease your pain.

She marches in God's army now but once
upon a time, with valor she fought long and proud our freedom on her mind.
Leaving loved ones far behind she treaded
foreign land, Defending peace and liberty an honorable young woman.
The world may never know her
or the sacrifice she made,
So I ask you take a moment
and remember this soldier today.
