Therese Flanagan, 89, originally from Kingston and recently residing in Dallas, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late T. Arthur and Catherine Corcoran Flanagan and stepmom, Sally Flanagan. She was a graduate of St. Ann's Academy, College Misericordia and Tulane University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's degree in math.
Therese had moved to Alabama after she graduated from college to teach at John Carroll High School and Arlington School, in Birmingham, Ala., until her retirement. She moved back to Dallas six years ago. While in Alabama, she had attended Our Lady of the Sorrows church and was very much involved in their volunteer organization, "Trash to Treasures" program — taking donated clothing, furniture, etc., to raise funds for needed programs in the parish. She loved scrapbooking. After moving back home, she was a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
Therese was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tom Flanagan.
Surviving are her sisters, Kay Padavan, St. Louis, Mo.; Sally Jones and her husband, Clark; Bear Creek Township; Eileen Eustice and her husband, Joe, Kingston; Adele Fagan and her husband, John, Orefield; brother, Art Flanagan and his wife, Ann Marie, Dallas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in St. Francis Cabrini Church, 585 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
