Timothy Dillon Obituary

Timothy Gerard Dillon, 50, Port Griffith, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 28, 2013, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Kingston, he was a son of Joseph J. Dillon Sr., Port Griffith, with whom he resided, and the late Mary Geraldine Langan Dillon. Timothy was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1980. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Tim also was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, the American Legion Post 585, Duryea, the PAV, Plains Township, and the Disabled American Veterans. Prior to his illness, he was a manager at the Hard Rock Cafe, Miami.

Tim was a beloved son, brother and uncle who was cherished by his family and many friends. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.

In addition to his father, Timothy is survived by his sister, Patti Allford and her husband, Hal, Gettysburg; brother, Joseph J. Dillon Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, Aledo, Texas; several nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and many cousins.

A memorial Mass will be held on March 9 at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston. Relatives and friends may pay their respects during a celebration of Timothy's life on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Baloga Funeral Home Inc., 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith), and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, c/o Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, 1000 E. Mountain Dr., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711, or the Wilkes- Barre VA Medical Center, 1111 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.
