Walter Danowski Obituary

Walter J. “Bill” Danowski, of Dock Lane, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born June 30, 1917, in Nanty Glow, Pa., he was a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Thomas Danowski Bill attended New York City schools.
He was self-employed as a produce salesman in the area for many years and later, worked as a welder at Foster Wheeler Corporation, Mountain Top, for 28 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed gardening, dancing, and ventures to Pocono Downs and Atlantic City, N.J.
He was an usher at St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 815, and local Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Edith Bozentka, who died on May 2, 1995; brothers, Felix, Joseph, Adam and John; sister, Mary Mase.
He is survived by sons, Michael, of Wilkes-Barre, William and his wife, Theresa, of Wilkes-Barre, and Joseph and his wife, Sheryl, of Forty Fort; daughters, Mary Oresick and her husband, Michael, of Nanticoke, and Carol McNulty and her husband, Dennis, of Laflin; grandchildren, Michael Oresick Jr., Leann Oresick, Dianne Danowski, Sheila Bonk, Shane Ruggere, William Danowski Jr., Adonna Danowski, Brandon McNulty and Lynda Jennifer Danowski; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia Oresick and Candice Ruggere; sisters, Helen Fredericks, of New York, Angeline Danoski, of New York, Carol Muraczewski, of Toms River, N.J., and Ceil Danoski (Sr. Susanne H.F.N.).
Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church of the Maternity, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
