WEST WYOMING — Wilbur S. Knorr, 87, of Hamilton Street, West Wyoming, died on Friday evening, July 22, 2016, surrounded by his family at Celtic Health Care Unit, Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Wanamie, and was the son of the late Stanley and Leona (Caley) Knorr. He graduated from Newport Township High School, class of 1946. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
Wilbur had resided in West Wyoming since 1958. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a meat cutter by Bevco Food Services, Pittston. Earlier, he was employed by Acme Markets for many years.
Wilbur was a member of Forty Fort Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Irem Temple and was a past president of the Clown Unit. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 332, F & AM, Nanticoke. He was also a life-member of American Legion Post No. 996, Dushore.
Wilbur was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting at the cabin in Dushore. For years, he had collected aluminum cans and donated all the money to Shiners Hospital for Children. He love watching his Philadelphia Eagles and New York Yankees.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Judith (Rasi) Knorr; daughter, Pamela and her husband, John Jugus, Pittston; two grandchildren, Kira (Jugus) Corby and her husband, Michael, and Jonathon Jugus; one great-grandchild, Alexis Corby.
Funeral at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. William Lukesh officiating. The interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley South Hospital and Celtic Health Care for their fine care.
