William M. Pfeffer Jr., 66, of Bear Creek Township, Pa., passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2025, at his home.
Born July 17, 1958, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Alice (Greeger) Pfeffer. Bill was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1976, where he excelled in football and wrestling. He took those talents to Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., where he distinguished himself as the Virginia State Heavyweight Wrestling Champion in 1978.
He returned to Pennsylvania to start a family with his wife of 42 years, the former Kimberly Moules. They welcomed two sons in Plains Township, Pa., before returning to Bill's family home in Bear Creek Township in 1999.
Bill was a family man who participated in many aspects of his sons' interests. He coached Plains Little League T-Ball, the Plains Yankees, and was Cub Master of Pack 100, Plains Township. He was a very proud Eagle Scout Dad, and a member of the Bear Creek Volunteer Hose Company.
Bill worked in the construction industry for 40 years. He retired from Bear Creek Lutheran Camp, where he once worked as a teen, in 2022.
Bill loved the natural beauty of this country and spent time in Alaska, Wyoming, Colorado and South Dakota, as well as the New England States. He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved fishing with his sons, and the fishing group for their annual 1,000 Island fishing trip.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his sons: William Pfeffer and his wife, Michelle, Bear Creek Township; and Daniel Pfeffer, Shavertown; granddaughter, Cecilia Pfeffer, Bear Creek Township; sisters: the Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer, Minersville, Pa.; Beth Pfeffer, West Gardiner, Maine; and Terry Wallace, Berryville, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, Pa., with pastor Hadley Hayes of the Messiah PM Church, Bear Creek Township, officiating. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Bear Creek Township Volunteer Hose Company Building Fund, P.O. Box 156, Bear Creek, PA 18602.
