Ardeth Rice Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Ardeth Jo Rice, passed away at home in San Diego, CA on Aug 14, 2025. She was 82.
Ardeth was born on Jan 17, 1943 to Arthur W. Jackson and Barbara Anderson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was fondly known as Pinky. She married Walter H. Rice and they made a home together in the Scripps Ranch community of San Diego for 47 years.
She spent more than 30 years working for Avon Cosmetics first in Salt Lake City and then in San Diego, capping her sales career as a district manager recognized as a top leader for her ambition and drive.
She cherished her family and taught her children a love of the great outdoors. She was an amazingly loyal friend, and outspoken on behalf of herself and others. She loved dancing, singing, and RVing around the country.
Ardeth is survived by her loving husband Walter, their children Barbara "Bobbie" Jo Kelso, David Rice, and Larry Rice, and her three sisters Sharon Glanville, Denise Wilcox, and Shawna Wilde. She was also blessed with five grandchildren and a great granddaughter, four nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her son Charles Arthur "Barron" Lee and both her parents.
Ardeth will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept 27, 10am - noon, at Scripps Ranch Community Center, 11885 Cypress Canyon Road, San Diego, 92131.
