Joyce Schuler passed away November 22, 2025. In her final days, Joyce was surrounded by her loving and supportive family, in the same house she had lived in for over 64 years. Joyce was born and raised in Argyle, a small Wisconsin town. She
married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Schuler, of Monticello, WI in 1957. The newlyweds packed up everything they owned in a VW Bug and moved to Pacific Beach in San Diego, CA. Joyce grew to love California, especially the warm weather. Even though she missed her family terribly, she would never go back to the cold, snowy winters. Education was of foremost importance to Joyce and after years of night school, and as a full-time student in her 40's, she graduated from SDSU in 1982. One of her proudest achievements. Throughout her life, Joyce stayed true to herself, her mid-western values and her faith. She enjoyed traveling, reading romance novels, and spending time with her dear friends and family. Joyce was preceded in death in 2013 by her husband Ralph, of 55 years. She is survived by her three daughters, Laura Ellenberger (Todd), Debbie Prevo (Dave), Lisa Barron (John) and her 7 grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1pm in the La Jolla Presbyterian Church Sanctuary at 7715 Draper Avenue, La Jolla, CA. There is a free parking garage entrance on Kline Street between Eads and Draper Ave. The service will be livestreamed via a link on the church website ljpres.org to their YouTube channel. A reception will be held immediately following the service in Room 1 in the Life Center building. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to the Autism Society of San Diego. Laura, Debbie and Lisa thank each and every one of you for your kindness to our mother. You all meant so much to her.
