Marlene M. (Cathcart) Evans
Hopewell Twp. - Marlene M. (Cathcart) Evans, 81 of Hopewell Twp. passed away peacefully after an extended illness on July 30, 2021.
She was born January 18, 1940, in Clarion, PA and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Kathryn (Gourley) Cathcart. In addition to her parents Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, William Evans, two brothers: Sam and Don Cathcart, two sons-in-law: Larry Gilchrist and Larry Kennedy.
Marlene was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Aliquippa where she taught bible school, worked as a Sunday school teacher and graciously assisted fellow church members with bereavement luncheons.
Marlene retired from U.S. Steel Chemicals on Neville Island. Marlene loved to cook. Her specialty was vegetable soup, and it was very much enjoyed by her family. Marlene was an excellent baker making homemade buns to enjoy with her soup and delicious cream puffs for dessert.
Above all, Marlene was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family.
She is survived by four daughters: Sondra Fernandez, Rhonda and Thomas More, Wanda Kennedy and Donna Gilchrist. Grandchildren: Megan (Joe), Jason, William (Heather), Christopher, Kara (Randall), Travis (Melissa), Amber, Autumn, Alan and Kara, Five great grandchildren, two sisters: Ruth Anderson and Bonnie (Charlie) Hendershot.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 am until time of service at 12 noon in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 724-375-0496.
Private entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
