Paul E. Bohn

Ambridge

Paul E. Bohn, 78, of Ambridge, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020, AHN at West Penn Hospital. Born July 31, 1941, Sewickley, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Schonegg Bohn.

Paul worked for the Edward McCabe Funeral Home, Ambridge, before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Upon returning from the service, he resumed his duties at the funeral home, until purchasing the William Towcimak Funeral Home in 1973, becoming the sole proprietor of the Paul E. Bohn Funeral Home for 32 years. While establishing his business, he also helped at the Richard Cole Funeral Home, Sewickley. He then turned over his business to his long time associate Bob Matich, whom he mentored for 34 years. He continued to work at the Bohn-Matich Funeral Home because of his love, compassion and kindness he had for the entire surrounding communities. He was the most giving and generous man with everyone he came in contact with.

Paul was a member of Good Samaritan Church, Ambridge Eagles, Baden American Legion, Longest Tenured Member of Ambridge Tip- Off Club, Past President of Ambridge Quarterback Club, Past President Ambridge Wolves Club, Past Treasurer of Beaver County Funeral Directors Association, Knights of Columbus and Past Board Member of Laughlin Memorial Library.

Paul was a 1959 graduate of St. Veronica High School, attended Point Park College and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

He was an avid bowler, who bowled in several leagues throughout his life. He enjoyed going on vacation to Myrtle Beach with his wife, kids, grandkids and extended family. He enjoyed giving tours at Olde Economy Village. He and his wife Linda enjoyed traveling to various places throughout the country, including taking cruises. He was the biggest supporter of New Horizon School, where his granddaughter Diann Prentice attended. He also participated in the Polar Plunge, and never missed Special Olympics which Diann participated in. He was an avid Ambridge Bridger fan for all sports. He was the biggest supporter of all of his grandchildren's sports, music, Special Olympic events and all Lincoln Park music events.

Surviving is his loving wife, Linda Pisano Bohn; one sister, Frances Cantakis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Paula Prentice and Vinny and Shelly Prentice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Greg Frankhouser and Kristie and Jayson Park; seven grandchildren, Diann, Katie, Anthony and Alivia Prentice, and Tyler, Lily and Carly Park; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Lisa Pisano, Vince and Sandy Pisano, Nikki Wilkie and Donna Rowan; special friends, Anthony "Beans" and Shirley Merante and Dennis Sabina and Jack Firich, whom worked with Paul for 35 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Bohn; sister and brother-in-law, Marie Ann and Paul Slavik; brother-in-law, Gust Cantakis; one niece, Christine Slavik; and a dear friend and co-worker, Matt Labuda.

A private family viewing was held on Monday, April 20, 2020 at BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date.

Paul will be sadly missed by numerous friends and the entire community whom he touched.

We're going to miss that smile and sense of humor he had. I always told him I wish he could have been cloned, because this world needed more people like Paul. God gained one heck of an Angel.
Our sympathy to Linda and her family.

It was a pleasure knowing Paul for many years. He was always considerate and would always talk to you, even if it was just to say hi. He would also support many local nonprofits including the Ambridge Vol. Fire Dept. He certainly will be missed by many.

I have had the joy of knowing Paul for more than 34 years through working in a bank in Ambridge. He was always warm, friendly, and fun. He and Linda used to be at Rook's on Friday night and some of us from the bank laughed and carried on with these two lovebirds. I never heard Paul say a harsh work about anyone or anything. I will miss him.

Paul, we loved you so very much and our lives will never be the same without you. You were with us in all of our losses throughout our lives and we will never forget your love and compassion.

The Lord has you now and I am sure when you saw the face of Jesus, he said Well done my good and faithful servant.
