Barbara Lauer Obituary
92, of Ruston, La., passed away on April 10, in Shreveport. A memorial service at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ruston was held on April 16, 2018. Father Pat Madden was celebrant.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Ashy and Bill Ashy. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Lauer (former Director of the Tuscarawas County, OH Department of Human Services) of Ruston; brother, Charles Ashy of Lafayette, La.; sisters, Helen Ashy of Oakdale, La., Rose Broussard and husband, Charles, of Lafayette, La., and Juliett Colvin of Lafayette, La; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the former director of the Tuscarawas County Council for Church & Community (T-4-C) from 1974-1998. Under her leadership in 1975 T-4-C partnered with the Tuscarawas County Department of Human Services to begin
the Share-A-Christmas program that continues as a county-wide mission. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. On line condolences may be made to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com.

John: Our sincerest condolences during your time of sorrow. You and Barb were two of the first people to welcome us to this area. From Sacred Heart to hospice to T4C, Barb was a leader in the community. In the parenting classes that I teach, I talk about the six pillars of Character Counts. Barb's memory lives on!
