Bertha Eberly Obituary

"Together Again"
Bertha June Eberly
age 85, Midvale, went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2011, in her home with her family at her side. Born at Akron, Ohio, June 22, 1926, she was one of nine children born to the late Ross and Birdie Haskett Wade. Best known as "June" to her family and friends, she met and fell in love with William LeRoy Eberly, Sr. The couple wed Aug. 29, 1942 in the Reformed Church at Strasburg. They set up housekeeping near Parrall before relocating to Midvale, then Dennison finally settling in Midvale where she resided for the remaining 55 years of her life. A gifted homemaker, June will be remembered for her delicious Cherry Nut Cake, her Peanut Butter Fudge, and of course her Baked Beans, which were staples at church events and family reunions alike. Family life was very important to her, so much so that for the past 50 years she has served as secretary and treasurer of the annual Wade Family Reunions, which she proudly hosted in her home for a number of years. June was a longtime member of the Midvale United Methodist Church, having the distinction of nearly four decades of perfect attendance. Upon the death of her husband in 1990, she took over his roll as Superintendent of the Sunday School Department, and went on in that capacity for another decade. June was also an active participant in the Midvale United Methodist Women. Active in the community, June also served for many years as a Pollworker in primary, special and general elections alike. June was also very involved in the Parent- Teacher Organizations while her children went through the school district; was a member of the Midvale Lady Lions and volunteered for the American Red Cross. June dearly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and cherished annual family vacations to Geneva on the Lake.
Survivors include daughters, Lillian (husband, Gene) Boggiani of Midvale, Hilda Studer of Port Washington, Donna (husband, Randy) Cadle of Midvale, Katherine (husband, Tom) Sayre of Canton, and one son, LeRoy (wife, Ellie) Eberly of Midvale. She'll be sadly missed by her grandchildren Lisa Boggiani, Samuel Studer, Wendy Koile, Amanda Heil, Michele Handy, Mike and Jason Cadle, Leanne Gonzales, LeRoy, James and William Eberly. Her family was made all the more beautiful and enjoyable by her many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. A sister, Wilda Eash of Navarre, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews, complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband of 47 years who passed away May 12, 1990, June is preceded in death by her five step children, Sue Stuber, Lois Day, Charles, William II and Walter Eberly; a son-in-law, Samuel Studer, a grandson, Edward Studer; two step grandsons, Doug and Greg Day; sisters, Gertrude Eberly, Donna Bentz, and Dorothy who died in childhood; and four brothers, Arthur, Lyman, Carl and James "Cork" Wade.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2-4 and from 6-8 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Lyle E. Warren will officiate Mrs. Eberly's funeral service Thursday morning at 10 in Midvale United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery at Beach City. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon in Midvale United Methodist Church. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home's website. Memorial contributions may be made to Midvale United Methodist Church, PO Box 247, Midvale, OH 44653, or to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover OH 44622.
