Carl Barlock Obituary

Carl Edward
Barlock
Carl Edward "Salty" Barlock, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather died in his home in Las Vegas, Nev., on Nov. 14 2012 at the age of 79. Born Feb. 24 1933, in Dover, Ohio, Carl was the youngest of four boys born to John and Ann.
He was preceded in death by two of his brothers, John R. and James B. Barlock of Dover, Ohio, where his older brother, David Eugene Barlock still resides. Carl, who was affectionately known as "Mr. B" is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Winnie; step son, Philip George Cummings II; daughter, Carla Rainone and granddaughter, Alisa of Las Vegas; daughter, Lisa and husband, Kenneth James Ratigan; granddaughters, Lauryn and Sidney of Las Vegas; and son, Carl Edward II, of Albuquerque, N.M.
A retired Iron worker of local 416, he moved his family to Las Vegas in 1981. He proudly served his country as a Marine aboard the USS Sarasota during the Korean War, and also as a Deputy Sheriff in Tuscarawas Co., New Philadelphia, OH. A Third Team Allstate Ohio standout, Carl was courted out of high school as a Tight End by Kentucky, Woody Hayes of Ohio State, and then went on to the University of Miami on a football scholarship. The Sunshine State and Miami Hurricanes were the lucky recipients of this gifted athlete. A Member of the Marine Corps League in Las Vegas, as well as a lifetime member of the Marine Corps # 567 in Holiday, Fla, Carl thoroughly enjoyed bringing everyone together, especially during the holidays and football season. He loved to travel with his wife, Winnie, and enjoyed fishing and a great round of golf.
Services will be held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Boulder City, Nev. on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 10:40 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by The Bunker Funeral Home, Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, Nev.

My Uncle Carl was one of a kind.I always looked up to him.I would go to my Grandmothers and Uncle Gene's house and look at all the sports pictures of him in awe.I really loved the one where he was catching the football, with his arm outstretched to the sky.He was my hero.Steve Barlock,Spring Hill,Fla.

My heartfelt sympathy to Winnie, and her family in this hour of sorrow. Carl was highly respected and well liked by all who knew him. To Carl's brother Gene, your brothers left behind many Golden Memories. Aunt Ann and Uncle John were very proud of all of their sons. May God give you comfort
and peace during this difficult time.
God Bless you all. Cousin, Jim Shaw, Cambridge, Ohio
