Carl Dolvin Obituary
Age 93, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2020 into the arms of his Lord. Born Oct. 17, 1927, a son of the late William and Florence (Sparks) Dolvin. Willis was a 1945 graduate of Dellroy High School and attended the New Cumberland United Methodist Church. After high school he worked at East Sparta Ceramics and enlisted in the Army Air Corps/Air Force and served in WWII and participated in the Berlin Air Lift. After an honorable discharge he married Voneta Tomblin and graduated from the Ohio State University in 1957. Willis was employed by the Food and Drug Administration for a year then began his lifetime career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Aeronautical Engineer at Akron-Canton Airport until his retirement in 1997. His activities included golfing and bowling and enjoying his retirement on his family farm.
Preceded in death by his son, Capt. Kevin Dolvin in Desert Shield/Storm; his sisters, Dorothy Aston, Gladys Flauhaus, Agnes Trayner, and an infant sister; and his brothers, Donald, Dennis and Jay Dolvin. Survived by his wife, Voneta Dolvin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry (Judy) Dolvin, and David (Shari) Dolvin; grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Carl "CJ", Andrew, and Grant; great grandchildren, Jada, Jeremy, Luke, Adelynn, Alanna, Avianna, Selena, Haru; one sister-in-law, Grace Dolvin; and many loved ones. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Crossroads Hospice, Homecourt and the Veteran's Administration.
Services will be held Wed. at 12 noon in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. Interment in New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service, Wed. from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Face coverings and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Cumberland United Methodist Church, 4058 New Cumberland Rd NW, Mineral City, OH 44656 or Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr Suite E, Uniontown, OH 44685.
