Marcus Maurer Obituary
age 75, of New Philadelphia passed away quietly at home on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, after a brief illness.
Marc was employed with the IS Department at Union Hospital for 23 years and he continued to volunteer with the Emergency Department for nine years following his retirement. He also enjoyed shooting at Tusco Rifle Range and riding his bike.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Maurer of Akron and Scott Maurer of Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter, Acacia Maurer of Jackson Center, Pa.; his brother, David (Brenda) Maurer of Sterling, Ohio and his longtime companion, Patsy Grimm.
Marc will be sadly missed by his Union Hospital friends and family. Contributions can be made in his name to Hospice House of New Philadelphia. As per his request there will be no services.

Dear Patsy and the Maurer family,
I have worked with Marc for many years here at Union Hospital. He was counting the days until retirement when I started...little did I know that within a few days after his official retirement that he would begin volunteering here at UH. He was a great man. He will be missed...I know that the Emergency Department seems a bit empty with his passing.

Marc was a great guy and customer at Ernie's Bicycle shop. Always had a positive outlook and great sense of humor. And loved to ride. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I had the privilege of training Marc as an ER volunteer. He was like a kid in a candy shop every single day! He lightened our load, spread compassion and cheer to our patients, and was an important member of the team. I am so sorry for your loss. It was truly an honor to work with him.

Dear Patsy and Maurer family, so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man! I so enjoyed working with Mark in the ER. Such a kind generous and devoted worker he was.
