Robert Grages Obituary

Robert Dale Grages
age 50, of Mineral City, died early Sunday, May 24, 2015, in his residence, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. A son of Susan E. (Meek) Grages of Mineral City and the late Dale V. Grages, Bob was born in Union Hospital at Dover on Feb. 11, 1965. He was a 1983 graduate of Tusky Valley High School and worked in the oil fields and farmed prior to joining Whitacre Engineering at Magnolia. For the past 24 years, Bob wore many hats at Whitacre and was a respected colleague among his co-workers, knowing he could be called upon to help out where and when needed. Bob had a mind and skillset that allowed him to fix anything. He enjoyed working on cars, hobby farming, fishing, and mushroom hunting. Never one to sit still, Bob became a self-taught guitarist learning both lead and bass guitar. Having played in one band or another for the past 30 years, most recently, he was a member of the band "Final Chapter" and provided vocals to many of the group's songs. Above all, Bob was a family man who loved spending time in any way he could with those he loved.
In addition to his mother, he will be missed by his wife, the former Susan J. Shroyer, whom he married on Feb. 22, 1997; a daughter, Susan M. (Zachary) Bennett of Peoria, Ariz.; "his boys", Christopher (Sondra) Mosley, John (Holli) Mosley, Mark Mosley, Sean (Rachel) Jones, Skylar Boggan all of Mineral City and countless others who he took under his wing through the years. Other survivors include nine grandchildren; a brother, William Grages of New Philadelphia; a sister, Clara Grages of Canton three nieces, and a nephew.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 5-8 p.m., where a candle service will conclude visitation at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and light a candle in remembrance of Bob by visiting the funeral home's website at
