Evelyn Dorsey Obituary

Evelyn M. Dorsey, 85, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living on Nov. 23, 2025, after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease.

Evelyn was a 1962 graduate and faithful supporter of Olivet Nazarene University, and participated in a 1962 field biology course that uncovered a mastodon skull and bones displayed at the university. She earned her master's degree at the University of Illinois and taught science at Crescent-Iroquois High School in Crescent City, Illinois, for nearly 40 years. She was deeply devoted to her students, who affectionately knew her as "Mrs. D." She also taught organic chemistry to adult nursing students for many years as an adjunct faculty member at Olivet.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene. She was an avid golfer and NFL football fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Rowley Bowen Sims and Everett Bowen. Survivors include her children Ted (Carolyn) Dorsey, Carrie (Larry) Sukova, Ann (Curtis Kelch) Aubry; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 1, at Brownsburg Church of the Nazarene, 523 S. Locust Lane, Brownsburg, Indiana, with burial at Lizton K of P Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Olivet Fund, Olivet Nazarene University, or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org)
