Holly Anderson Obituary

Holly Sue Anderson passed away on January 14, 2021 in Santa Monica, California.

Holly was born on November 22,1952 in Beaverville, Illinois to Robert and Patricia Anderson. She graduated from Watseka Community High School in 1970 and attended the University of Illinois where she received her BS in Elementary Education in 1976.

Holly got her M.Ed. in Special Education. In 1985, she married Jerry Fahey and they had two children: Laura and Joseph. She primarily worked for the California Youth Authority in Paso Robles, Chino, and Camarillo where she was the Resource Specialist and where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2014. During the last 10 years of her life, Holly lived on a sailboat in Ventura with her partner, Rick Paley. Holly was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). She was deeply passionate about and committed to social justice, racial equality, education, and helping impoverished and disenfranchised people. Holly was a gourmet cook. She travelled all over the world. She was an avid hiker, scuba-diver, and skier. She loved to kayak and swim in the ocean. She was a bundle of energy and the heart of every family party. She read voraciously. Holly is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, her brother Maury, and her nephew Dylan. She is survived by her partner, her daughter, her sisters Christine, Peggy, Judith and her brothers Robert, David, and Jack, as well as seven nieces and nephews, and four grand-nephews.

Holly's untimely passing is devastating to her family and friends and she will be sorely missed. A celebration of her life has been postponed until April,2022.

I was a co-worker of Holly at the Marie C. Romero High School in Paso Robles, CA. Holly was a dedicated teacher, even taking a college night school class in mathematics to increase her skill level in that particular subject in her quest to help one of her students - just one student who was functioning at a high level compared to the other students in her class. At her invitation, I joined her and a group of students in once a week meetings. She was a wonderful colleague and teacher. She was highly regarded.

My sister Holly was so incredible. Truly the kindest hearted person I have ever known. She was a "GIVER" in the truest meaning of the word. She would have given the clothes off her back to the needy, food from her plate for those who were hungry. She gave my mother so much kindness and care in the last years of her life and all the rest of us so much love. Her energy had no bounds. She is so very sorely missed. She was taken away much too soon. So painful for all whom she left.
