Edna Farber Obituary
NEWPORT - Edna L. Farber, 76, formerly of White Creek Road, died on February 8, 2016, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, where she had resided since 2011.
Mrs. Farber was born on January 4, 1940, in Golden City, MO, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Ethel (Farmer) Bergloff. She moved to Ilion at an early age and graduated from Ilion High School. On April 11, 1959, she was united in marriage with Ronald L. Farber in Newport. Edna first worked as a secretary at the former Jamestown Veneer Mill in Poland and later as a seamstress at Duofold in Mohawk.
She was an avid gardner and enjoyed camping, fishing, reading and puzzles. Edna also participated in the sport of bowling in earlier years.
Survivors besides her husband of 56 years, Ronald, include one daughter, Donna Farber of Newport; four granddaughters, Amanda Farber of Newport, Melissa Farber of Binghamton, Jessica Farber of Herkimer and Roxsan Farber, also of Newport; nine great-grandchildren, Amberlie Lobdell, Autumn Verbitsky, Alivia and Christopher Petranich, Benjamin, Brian and Braden Flint, Saralynn Farber and Camron Spann; three sisters, Sherry (George) Key of Hobart, Jeanne (George) Gottung of St. Johnsville and Martha (Roger) Treen of Millers Mills; two brothers, Neil (Odette) Bergloff of Hershey, PA, and Steven (Sara) Bergloff of Pamplin, VA; one aunt, Faye Kattato of Frankfort; and many nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by a brother, Gilbert Bergloff.
Private funeral services will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Matthew Ripp, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Newport, officiating. Spring interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Town of Norway. There are no public calling hours.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
