Elizabeth "Betty" J. Lamphere 1929 - 2021
DOLGEVILLE - Elizabeth "Betty" J. Lamphere, 91, of Dolgeville, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 5, 2021, at Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, NY, with the comfort and love of her family by her side.
She was born on July 25, 1929 at her family homestead in Dolgeville, NY and was the daughter of the late Pearld and Martha (Gallup) Cool. Betty attended Dolgeville Central School. She was formerly employed with Gehring Tricot, Eastern Footwear and Daniel Green, Dolgeville, NY.
On October 18, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Charles L. Lamphere in Dolgeville, NY. The couple shared a loving union of almost 50 years until he passed away on July 7, 1997.
Betty was a faithful parishioner of the United Lutheran Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women where she was secretary and treasurer throughout the years. She was also a member of the Oppenheim Senior Center where she was a reporter for papers and a member of KOPS and TOPS: Keep/Take Off Pounds Sensibly for over 13 years.
The most precious moments of Betty's life were spent in the company of her family as well as watching birds. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, Betty will be missed by all who knew her, especially her devoted family and many friends.
She is survived by her beloved son, Charles R. Lamphere and his wife, Denise, of Fort Plain, NY; loving grandchildren, Heidi (Lamphere) Grinnell and her husband, Doug, of Blossvale, NY, Monica (Lamphere) Whiteman and her husband, Alan, of Gainesville, GA, Charles D. Lamphere and life partner, Alicia Thomas, of Petersburg, VA, William E. Lamphere and his fiancé, Betty Damin, of Dolgeville, NY, Becky (Lamphere) Nash and her husband, Nate, of Fredericksburg, VA, David M. Lamphere and his wife, Kristin, of Roswell, GA and Jason Sovis and his wife, Dawn, of Salisbury, NY; cherished great-grandchildren, Chandler Grinnell, Connor Grinnell, Shyella Whiteman, JJ Whiteman, Brian (BJ) Lamphere, Wyland Lamphere, Silas Nash and Piper Nash.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Lamphere; her son, Bruce E. Lamphere; and daughter, Susan (Lamphere) Wainwright.
Calling hours will be held on Friday morning, July 9, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, NY 13329. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12 p.m. (noon) also at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Bradseth officiating. Burial will follow in Dolgeville Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Charles. After 24 years, they will now be together again.
