George William Strait 1920 - 2017
DOLGEVILLE - George W. Strait, 96, of Sweet Hill Road, Dolgeville, New York, in the Town of Oppenheim, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 14, 2017, at the Sitrin Healthcare Facility in New Hartford, New York.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dolgeville, New York, with Deacon Jim Bower officiating. Following prayers, Central New York Chapter #490, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, will hold a prayer service, Fort Plain V.F.W. Post #3275 will salute Mr. Strait with a 21-Gun Salute, and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will accord full military honors. George will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Catherine.
In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions for Central New York Chapter 490, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, P.O. Box 4491, Utica, New York 13504-4491 or a charity of your choice.
George's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Sitrin Healthcare, especially the staff at Magnolia Hall, for their loving and compassionate care that was given to George during his stay.
