Geraldine M. Lefebvre 1929 - 2021
HERKIMER - Geraldine M. Lefebvre, 92, formerly of 345 Gray Street, Herkimer, NY, died after a brief illness on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, Albany, NY, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Little Falls, NY, on May 15, 1929, the daughter of John T. Foley and Celia C. Foley. Geraldine grew up in Little Falls, where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She was raised by her loving mother and spent many wonderful times at the home of her maternal grandfather, Jeremiah Hartnett and grandmother, "Nora" Hartnett, in Little Falls. Geraldine met the love of her life, Raymond Lefebvre, of Herkimer, NY and they were married at St. Mary's Church on August 2, 1947. For over 70 years, they shared an extraordinary life together.
Geraldine worked, for many years, at the Empire Diner, General Herkimer Hotel and Montgomery Wards, Herkimer.
She was a wonderful daughter, wife and mother, with a great sense of humor and a passion for her family. She loved family, travel, cards and the occasional trip to Atlantic City. Geraldine made friends everywhere she went. She was loving, generous and accepting of all people without reservation and all those who knew her returned that love. She attended numerous family graduations, weddings and family get-togethers and unfailingly, brought her joy of life, humor, happiness and caring to all those she loved so passionately. She realized the greatest dream that all families strive for, a close, strong, loving, caring and generous family.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn and wife, Kathy, of Cohoes, David and wife, Lora, of Brunswick and Kim and wife, Linda, of Niskayuna; her cherished grandchildren, Michelle Lefebvre (Pratt), of Alexandria, VA, Andrew Lefebvre, of Ballston Lake, NY, Stephen Lefebvre, of New York, NY and Alyssa Lefebvre, of Guilderland, NY; and also by seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Sarah Pratt and Angelo, Tea, Milana and Anamaria Lefebvre.
Everyone is welcome to join the family at a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls, NY 13365 on Wednesday, June 2, at 9:00 a.m., with Father Brian Slezak, officiating. Interment will be immediately following the church service at Calvary Cemetery, West German St, Herkimer. If you plan to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, due to COVID restrictions, a mask will be preferred, but not required. Thank you.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geraldine M. Lefebvre may be made to Valley Health Services, 690 West German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Donations should state that funds are used for musical programs for the residents.
