Julia Rose Congdon 1949 - 2017
ILION - Julia Rose Congdon, 67, of 174 Otsego St., passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at home, with her loving family by her side, after a brief illness.
She was born on December 26, 1949, in Little Falls, the daughter of John Downs and Hazel Bruce, and was educated in Little Falls Schools. Julia was a former employee with Allegro Shoes, Little Falls, Dan Dee Doughnuts, Little Falls, and Folts Home, Herkimer, prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She loved playing cards, online games, bingo and listening to country music. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Little Falls Baptist Church; more recently, she had attended the Word Christian Center, Mohawk, under Pastor Kipper.
Julia is survived by two daughters, Kandy and Mike Bush, of Ilion, Cheryl Brown and her fiance, James Carbone, of Frankfort; her son, Brian Boardman, of Ilion; and her grandchildren, Marissa, Destiny and Kaitlyn Bush, of Ilion, Samara and Josh Brown, of Frankfort, Chris Boardman, of Ilion, Ryan Jennett, of Mohawk, and John Boardman, Jr., of Copenhagen. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Boardman, of Ilion, and Lillianna Coughlin Jennett, of Mohawk; also two brothers and their wives, James and Mary Downs, of Ilion, and John and Jane Downs, of VA. Julia was predeceased by two sons, John and Clifford Boardman; her parents, John Downs, Sr., and Hazel Downs Paquette; Clifford Boardman, Sr., the father of her children; and her brothers and sisters, Kate, Ester, Adrian, Gladys, Violet, Lloyd and Mable.
Julia's funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion, with Pastor Eugene Kipper officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Thursday.
