Richard E. Adams 1938 - 2021 JENSEN BEACH, FL - Richard Adams, 82, was the son of Edward and Mary (Kamp) Adams of Ilion, NY. He passed away peacefully at his home in Jensen Beach, FL, on July 27, 2021, in the loving care of his wife, Nancy (Tomasik) of 52 years. "Dicky" was a graduate of Ilion High School, where he was an All-Star basketball player. He was previously married to Joan Meays of Ilion, NY. Together, they had one daughter, Linda (Adams) Fraley. His employment history consists of Union Fork & Hoe, Frankfort, in his early years and then as a store manager at National Auto, Utica. From there he began a career working at Marcy State Hospital, which became Central New York Psychiatric Center, where he retired from after 26 years. Dicky was an avid sports enthusiast. There was not a sport he didn't enjoy! He loved sharing his knowledge of all the games with others, especially the younger generation! Through the years he and Nancy enjoyed playing golf, tennis and volleyball together on different leagues. In the early years of marriage, Dick and Nancy spent much time with his father on the family property in Gray, NY, building a log cabin from scratch with the help of many family members and friends. When Dick's father became ill, their focus turned to getting his father to a warmer climate for the winters. This brought them to Jensen Beach, FL. Dick and Nancy shared a devoted relationship throughout their life together. You would never see one without the other. Richard was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Adams Pitluga (2018) and Carol Adams (2010). He leaves behind his one and only much-loved sister, Mary Adams White and her husband, James; along with Carol's special friend, Debbie Kraeger. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Charles J. Fraley, Jr. and Christina L Fraley; two great-grandchildren, Tanika and Madison Fraley; as well as many precious nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, whom he shared many memorable moments with. In accordance with Richard's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to any youth sports programs in Ilion or Holland Patent schools. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Nancy Adams, 10725 S. Ocean Drive, Lot #439, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, Linda Fraley, 720 Vermont View Drive, Watervliet, NY 12189 and Mary Adams White, 53 West North Street, Ilion, NY 13357.

Nancy, we are so sorry for your loss, Dick was a great guy and taught me to take whatever life throws a me. My fondest memory of course is cutting down the branches of that damn tree on the left side of the 10th fairway at Crestwood. Rest in peace Dick.
