Adele McCarty Obituary

McCarty, Adele ALBANY Adele Ruth McCarty passed away on May 6, 2022, Adele was born on October 3, 1933, in Nyack, N.Y., the daughter of the late Evan DeVries and the late Ruth (Schierloh). She graduated from Nyack High School, where she met her husband, the late Francis McCarty II. Who could resist that blonde baton-twirling Uncle Sam in the marching band! They lived in Stony Point, N.Y., enjoying sailboat racing before moving to Hannacroix, N.Y., where they lived for many years raising their loving family. Adele did various jobs, including working in a dress factory. She was a great seamstress making everything from her daughters wedding dress to American Doll clothes. The cold Upstate weather finally sent them traveling. Finding themselves landing on Marco Island, Fla., they both enjoyed the warmer weather, walking on the beaches and making great new friends! When Frank passed away, Adele moved to Verona Walk in Naples, where she truly was part of the community. She involved herself in helping set up the social activities, running the exercise classes and singing, baton twirling and dancing in all the many shows. "Just ask Adele, she will know," was the saying at Verona Walk. Adele was a people person - from helping customers at the many stores she worked at - to helping her neighbors and friends - to caring for her many dog pals. More recently, her family wanted her closer, so she moved into Atria Shaker in Albany and then into Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. She is survived by her brother, Evan (Ruth) DeVries; and her loving children, April (Peter) Koska, Kathleen (Daniel) Hildebrandt, and Francis (Roxanne) McCarty III. She was the grandmother of six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the Neptune Society and Tunison Funeral Home of Saratoga Springs. She never gave up; Adele was a true inspiration to everyone she met - even if she did stick her tongue out at you! She left us in the early morning, when softly came the dawn, and since she never said goodbye, it's hard to think she's gone. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Contributions may be sent to The Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.

Adele was a true friend here in Naples. She would always call Bill to do some little job and we would visit. Adele helped the people in VeronaWalk with activities and always a smile and her giggle. A truly classy lady....

Adele is missed, she was our neighbor in verona walk. When we moved in, she was the first to welcome us. And became our friend instantly. I look across the street and she was there with a big smile to great you anytime. Adele and my mom would enjoy each other's company and keep each busy. She is missed and we are greatful she was part of our lives. She is again enjoying her morning walk with her husband. Don't forget your water bottle.

I enjoyed many years seeing her in VeronaWalk, exercising, riding to the airport and having her "watch" my home. Her performance in the shows was phenomenal. I know she will be missed by many friends but mostly her family. She was an amazing woman. Sending much love, thoughts and prayers to all.
