COLONIE - Anne B. Stapleton, Esq., passed away peacefully at her home, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, and her ever-faithful pups.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Anne was the daughter of the late Anna and Peter Barnes. She was a proud graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, where she earned her Bachelor of Science, and Western New England Law School, where she received her Juris Doctor.
Anne was predeceased by her devoted husband, Leo; and her loving son, Paul. She is survived by her children Lisa Stapleton (John), Kathleen Stapleton (John), Sean Stapleton (Jennifer), Sharon Stapleton-Kugler (Richard), and Jacqueline Stapleton-Vivanco (Jorge); as well as her cherished grandson, Jake Edward Stapleton; and granddaughter, Nichole.
Anne led an inspirational life. As a dedicated mother of a large family, she later returned to school to pursue both her undergraduate and law degrees, an extraordinary accomplishment that reflected her deep determination, resilience, and commitment to personal growth. Her perseverance served as a powerful example to her children, inspiring their own pursuit of higher education and professional success.
Anne proudly served as an attorney with the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted criminal cases and fiercely advocated for the rights of crime victims. She was deeply passionate about ensuring victims' voices were heard and protecting others from future harm at the hands of violent offenders.
Outside of her work, Anne treasured the company of her many dear friends, too numerous to list, but each profoundly valued by her. She delighted in social outings, cherished her friendships, and found great joy in time spent with her loyal four-legged companions. Her two "big boys," and her little girl pup, devoted to her always, will miss her deeply.
The family extends special gratitude to her daughters Kathleen and Lisa, who remained in the Albany area to be close to their mom. Their constant companionship, care, and selfless devotion allowed Anne to age gracefully and comfortably at home, an act of love she appreciated beyond measure.
A private Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Church in Albany, with interment beside her husband and son at Memory Gardens in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, Anne requested that donations be made to a worthy local animal rescue organization. To express condolences, please visit www.sbfuneralhome.com
