Anthony Zeppetello Obituary

Zeppetello, Anthony J. ALBANY Anthony (Tony) Zeppetello, age 58, Albany, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 after a battle with cancer. He is the son of Joseph S. Zeppetello (deceased) and Edna M. Zeppe-tello of Rome, N.Y. He is survived by two brothers, Joseph N. Zeppetello and his wife Lyza of Saugerties, N.Y.; and Martin G. Zeppetello and his wife Sharon of Syracuse, N.Y. He will also be remembered by his niece, Rachel Zeppetello; his three nephews, Eliah Zeppetello, Noah Zeppetello, and Danny Zeppetello; and his goddaughter, Lauren Mastrangelo, all of whom dearly loved their "Uncle Tony." Tony graduated from Rome Catholic High School where he was on the varsity wrestling team and an active Boy Scout. He later worked for Revere Copper and Brass, and the U.S. Postal service in Rome. After that, he took a job with the NYS Department of Corrections and moved to the Hudson Valley to work for a time at Coxsackie Correctional Facility. He later transferred to the department of state and moved to Rensselaer to work in Albany. About 15 years ago he moved to the city of Albany and worked for the NYS Department of Civil Services. He was employed in many capacities over his career as a public servant, retiring last year from the Department of Civil Service. Tony was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead, and often attended their concerts. He was also an ardent fan of fantasy and science fiction, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of not only the Grateful Dead, but of the best known writers of science fiction, fantasy, and of Disney's animated movie "Fantasia." He had numerous friends, and all of his family and friends will miss an outstanding companion. There will be services for Tony at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16. From the NYS Thruway north to exit 24, take 87 (Northway) north to exit 2W. This will place you on Route 5 (Central Avenue) heading west. Drive 1.8 miles to Rt. 155. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Syracuse at a later date. To The Family,
My sympathy for your loss. I worked with Tony at the Department of Civil Service and he was a very kind-hearted person.
Tony, you will be missed. Rest in peace.

I never had the privilege to meet any of Tony's family, whom he would speak of every time we got together. But I've known Tony for the last 25 years and would get together through Paul Falotico, my first roommate on moving to Albany. Tony always made interesting conversation, was passionate about what he believed in and he was always willing to share what he had with others. I, as I am sure along with others, will miss Tony very much. I was very sad to hear of his passing. -Steve Scharf.

Tony was a customer of mine @ TJ's Cafe for quite sometime. I enjoyed waiting on him as he was my "regular", always having chicken parm and an orange creme soda. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
