Arnold Snide Obituary

Snide, Arnold
SELKIRK - Arnold L. Snide, 79, of Selkirk, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Arnold was a devoted family man whose life was defined by love, faith, and quiet dedication. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Carol, caring for her with unwavering devotion during the final two years of her life. He was a proud father to his son, Scott Snide; and to his late son, Edward Snide; and a deeply cherished grandfather to Connor, Chelsea, and Aubree Snide. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Susan Snide, whose continued presence in his life meant a great deal to him. One of his greatest weekly joys was sharing Thursday breakfasts with Sindy Snide, a tradition he looked forward to and deeply valued.
For 35 years, Arnold built a distinguished career with the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), where he retired as Support Services Manager. His strong faith guided his life, and he served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister at St. James/St. Francis of Assisi Church in Albany. Each Saturday, he prepared the church and assisted at Mass, and he was honored to serve during countless funerals and weddings.
Arnold was also a passionate genealogist. Over more than two decades, he traced his family's history back to the 1400s and beyond, building a remarkable database of over 50,000 relatives. Outside of work and research, he found happiness in life's simple moments - working side jobs, enjoying coffee and a hard roll at Stewart's, and spending time in the beauty and peace of Thatcher Park. He loved gardening and took great pride in keeping his lawn perfectly manicured. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, he supported his team faithfully through every season. At home, Arnold shared his days with two beloved cats, whose companionship brought him daily comfort and joy.
Arnold is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Rebecca Snide; and his brothers, Lawrence, Ronald, Harold, Donald, Lester; and sister, Lucille.
True to his nature, Arnold was a private man. He wished for no formal services, and in accordance with those wishes, he will be cremated. A private family Memorial will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be offered at danielkeenanfuneralhome.com
