Audrey Kuhn Obituary

Kuhn, Audrey
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Audrey Grendahl Kuhn of Clifton Park, most recently of Annapolis, Md., passed peacefully on Sunday, December 7. She was 96 years old.
Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Grendahl and Louise Carr. Herbert Carr was her beloved stepfather. She graduated from the University of Michigan College of Art and Design, and also studied at Skidmore College, Russell Sage, and the College of Saint Rose.
Audrey was a successful artist and her work is in private collections, museums, and galleries worldwide. She started her art career with Chinese brush painting, but quickly developed an affinity for graphic multiples, lithographs, and serigraphs with intaglio embossing. She gained notable attention at the New York Art Expo during the 1980s, helping to elevate her visibility in the art world. Later in life, she took up wearable textile art and pastel painting. She won many awards and accolades, and is listed in Who's Who in American Art. She was an active member of a number of art organizations including The Print Club of Albany, Oak Room Artists, and the Adirondack Pastel Society. She was a juried member of the Pastel Society of America in New York City.
She is survived by her children Tom Kuhn Jr. (Terri Shippee), Rhonda Reynolds, Kristyn Eckel (Jeff), and Karen Wright (Ehron); grandchildren, Karla Salvi, Taylor Anne and Mick Reynolds, Taylor (Erica) and Jordan (Jordy Bathras) Stout, and Ari Wright; and great-grandson, Samuel Stout. Also by her long-time friend and companion Lewis P. Welch, PhD. Her former husband and father of their children, Tom Kuhn Sr., passed away in 2017.
A memorial service will be held in the spring, after which she will remain at rest in western Maryland under twin maple trees.
