Barbara Karnik Obituary
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine - Barbara A. Karnik (Dorries) died suddenly on August 26, 2025, in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Born in Troy, N.Y., to Marie Mayo Dorries and William Dorries, she married Joseph F. Karnik in 1988. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her son, Joseph C. Karnik; stepdaughter, Shana Lewis; and stepson, Noah Bernard; her sister, Joanne DeCecchis; niece, Nicole DeCecchis; and nephews, John Clementi, Carl DeCecchis, and Zachary DeCecchis; and several grandnieces and nephews.
Barbara graduated from Watervliet High School, and went on to get a degree in Psychology from Oswego State University.
She was an employee of Price Chopper for 34 years, Landry's Shop 'N Save, and was currently employed at Hannaford. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and beachcombing.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. Cote Funeral Home.

Barbara would come to our home for the giants games and she always brought my boys goodies for the game. She was a big part of our family before we left NY to move to NC. Barb you will be missed by many. RIP my friend.

My deepest condolences to the family. Barbara and I went to grammar school and high school together, but unfortunately lost touch after college. She was kind, sweet, extremely smart and she loved to read, especially Nancy Drew. She had such a positive attitude, even when she had to wear her cast and back brace in the sweltering summer heat. I attached our first grade picture and either our 7th or 8th grade one as well in case the family hasn't seen these. I will pray for the repose of her soul, and for the family during this difficult time. In sympathy, Irene McKeown van der Linden.
