Lolik, Barbara
GLENVILLE - Barbara Loraine Lolik, 96, the matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully, on November 30, 2025. Born on September 13, 1929, in Schenectady, N.Y., to the late Charles and Mildred (Polack) Ramsey, Barbara's life was a testament to the power of family, hard work, and the joy of being around the people you love.
Raised in Schenectady's Goose Hill neighborhood, Barbara graduated from Nott Terrace High School. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Chester Lolik, and together they built a family, a home, and a life. Their home became a haven for loved ones, a place where memories were made, and traditions were born.
Barbara's commitment to her family was paralleled by her dedication to her career. After her children were all in school, she returned to the workforce and began a remarkable 32-year tenure at First National Bank of Scotia. Her diligent work and natural leadership abilities saw her rise through the ranks to Assistant Vice President and Head of Security; she was an inspiring working mother.
An exceptional cook and hostess, Barbara was known for her bountiful meals and the warm, inviting atmosphere she created in her home. She was the heart of the annual Christmas Eve gatherings that brought everyone together under one roof. Her love for her husband, Chester, was reflected in their shared joy of taking scenic rides and nurturing their home on Snakehill Road, complete with a pool that served as the epicenter for countless celebrations and picnics.
Her interests extended to gardening, reading, and decorating, and she would often be found rearranging furniture, delighting and sometimes surprising her family. Barbara was also a devoted pet owner, with a special place in her heart for her dogs throughout her life and, later, for her cat Sammy, whom she fondly said had chosen her.
Barbara Lolik's generosity knew no bounds, from opening her home to all, and making sure everyone left with a plate of food and a full belly. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated as a guiding light to all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Chester Lolik; and her cherished sons, Douglas and Donald Lolik; as well as her siblings, Richard and David Ramsey, and Joan Flanigan, Barbara's legacy continues through her surviving family. Her spirit lives on in her children, Daniel (Deborah) Lolik and Deborah (John) Davis; son-in-law, Kevin; her adored grandchildren, Melissa (Alex) Dupin, Nicole (Doug) Davis, Nathan (Amanda) Lolik, Jacob Lolik (Brittany Birnbach), and Brian Lolik; and her great-grandchildren, Etienne and Rene Dupin, Kyle, Hayden, and Milo Lolik. She is also remembered by her sister, Sue Carlson-Marion; sisters-in-law, Judy and Sherri Ramsey; and a host of nieces and nephews who were touched by her unwavering kindness.
The family wishes to thank Trinity Health Hospice and the Glendale Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support to Barbara.
Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband, Chester, at Memory Gardens in Colonie, N.Y., in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Glenville, N.Y. 12302.
