Farley, Beverly E.
EAST SCHODACK - Beverly Farley, 85, of East Schodack, N.Y., passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Beverly was born in Albany, N.Y., to Beth and Kenneth Golding on December 7, 1939. She resided on Clifford Rd., in Menands, eventually relocating with her family to East Schodack. She was a 1957 graduate of Columbia High School. After raising her children, she went to work for the East Greenbush Central School District, first in Administration and then as Secretary to Vice Principal Robert Pallozzi. She then worked as Secretary to several of Columbia High School's Head Principals. Bev was a Life Member of the East Schodack Fire Company, past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary and, most notably, in 1969, as one of the first female firefighters in Rensselaer County, with East Schodack Fire Company being only one of three departments in the State to incorporate women as firefighters at that time.
Beverly is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mark) Secor of Castleton, Kevin Farley of East Schodack, and Jill (Kevin) Terry of Colonie; grandchildren, Daniel (Caitlin Appleby) and Matthew Secor and Madelyn and Emily Terry; and great-grandson, Daniel Secor Jr.; as well as her sister, Barbara Tuite; sisters-in-law, Gail Farley of Nassau, Linda Farley of Vermont, and Eileen Jensen of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Farley; brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Golding; sister, Beth Dougherty; as well as brothers-in-law, Roger Farley and Michael Farley.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144. Interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Burden Lake Rd., East Schodack, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Beverly's family from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the funeral home.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to Mady Pelletier and Virginia Hunter for their exceptional and unwavering compassion and care of "Her Ladyship." Gratitude is also extended to the wonderful staff at Samaritan Hospital, especially Dr. Silk, ER nurses, Danielle and Paul; and sixth-floor nurses, Laurie and Lily.
