Brooks Anderson Obituary
ALBANY - Brooks M. Anderson, 74 of Albany, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at home.
Born in Albany on May 12, 1949, he was the son of the late Margaret Dieckelman and Robert E. Anderson, along with being the stepson of the late John H. Dieckelman.
Brooks graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School and worked as a carpenter most of his adult life. He was an excellent baseball player in his youth getting drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers after his studies playing in their farm system for a couple of years. Brooks was also an avid amateur photographer, taking many beautiful photographs of family and nature.
Brooks is survived by his brother, John J. Dieckelman; his niece, Julia Dieckelman and nephew, Eric Dieckelman - both of whom brought much happiness to his life. He is also survived by numerous cousins with families.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 8, at the Magin & Keegan Funeral Home, 891 Madison Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday after 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

I am so sad at Brooks passing. He was one of my best friends in high school. We spent a lot of good times together fishing and carousing. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

When I was a kid and Brooks was in town it was really special. I remember seeing him throw a baseball so high I couldn't believe it.
Later in life, he put railings in my parents' house so he could get up the stairs. My mom and I call them "Brooksy Bars."

Played Baseball with Brooks, we had fun and Brooks was a wonderful baseball player.

Brooks played American Legion baseball (Fort Orange team) in Albany.
William Leicht was the manager, Bill Leicht was the catcher and I was the batboy. We all admired Brooks' talent and were proud of his success .
