I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know Caryl during her time at Daughters of Sarah. What a remarkable & special woman with so many accomplishments! Jan, you were & are an unbelievable person not only to her but many others. My heartfelt condolences.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Caryl´s death. She was a wonderful friend and golfing companion for my
mother Miriam Spitalny. I can recall her following and encouraging both my brother Peter and me in our golfing careers and certainly recall my mother bragging about her field hockey excellence. She had a wonderful influence on so many young athletes and students and will sorely missed.

I vividly remember Miss Newhof from my days at Smith in the late 70s. She was a formidable presence on the hockey field and on the squash courts. A true institution at Smith!
