Charles Anderson Obituary

Anderson, Charles
MENANDS - Charles F. Anderson, Jr. passed away on November 3, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital.
A proud Troy native, Chuck was the son of the late Charles F. and Bessie Lee Anderson and the loving husband of the late Ellen O'Neil Anderson, who predeceased him in 2013, after 59 years of marriage. He graduated from Troy High School, '49, the Renouard School of Embalming and Funeral Directing of New York City, '51 and served in The United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict.
For 48 years Chuck was a funeral director for the Charles H. Mason Funeral Home and then the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home in Troy, retiring in 1999.
Chuck was a member of the Lansingburgh Rotary Club, a board member of the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club, and the past president of The Board of Stewards for the Society of the Friends of St. Patrick. He was a communicant of Historic St. Mary's Church in Albany, and a member of the University Club.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth McCahill (Philip) of Mashpee, Mass.; his granddaughter, Martha Ellen Sprague (Christopher) of Gorham, Maine; his great-granddaughter, Monica Ellen Sprague; and a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, William Lee Anderson.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge Street, Albany. There will be no calling hours. Burial with military honors will follow Mass at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
Memorial donations in Chuck's memory may be made to Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club or Make A Wish Foundation-Maine, 66 Mussey Rd., Scarborough, Maine 04074.
