Charles Pafundi Obituary

Pafundi, Charles A. Sr.
STILLWATER - Charles A. Pafundi, Sr., 65, of Gurba Drive South, died peacefully in the comfort of his home, with his loving family at his side, on December 22, 2024. Born in Troy on December 5, 1959, son of the late Anthony and Mary Huber Pafundi, he was a graduate of Troy High School, and Hudson Valley Community College.
Chuck spent over 35 years working as an Engineer with the NYS Department of Transportation. He loved being involved with youth sports, coaching his children through the years in basketball and soccer. A sports lover, he volunteered to keep the scorer's book for the Stillwater school's basketball teams throughout the years as well.
A diehard N.Y. Giants fan, he was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting fishing, and camping trips with his family. Most of all, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his wife, children, and especially being the best "Poppy" to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Colleen Carpenter Pafundi, whom he married September 28, 1985; his sons and their wives, Charles and Abbey Pafundi, Jr., and Evan and Nicole Pafundi; and adored grandchildren, Charles III, Jack, and McKenzie; also his siblings, Michael (Tina) Pafundi, Timothy (Michele) Pafundi, and Mary Houlton; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27, from 4-6 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville, N.Y. 12118. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866, in memory of Charles "Chuck" Pafundi, Sr.

I am so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. He was just very good person whom I played little league baseball with back in the 70's with his father as a coach and mentor. I ran into Chuck about 15 years ago when he was coaching basketball in Stillwater. We shared memories of our little league days and playing baseball at RPI's North Field.....My condolences to the family. RIP Chuck!!!

In 1970 and '71 I played at the Armory Little League in Troy with Chuck on teams managed by his dad. Fifty years later I ran into him at a hoop game at Stillwater where he was keeping the scorebook. It was like we had never lost touch as we both remembered those great days as kids. So sorry to read about his passing. R.I.P my friend.

My deepest condolences to the Pafundi family on this great lost. As a coworker from the NYSDOT, it was one of the greatest honor of my life to know this wonderful man. The world has lost one of its brightest lights. RIP my friend.
