PITTSTOWN Charles T. Sheffer Sr., of Phillips Road, died suddenly Saturday, December 14, 2002 at home. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Elizabeth OBryan Sheffer, and husband of Mary E. Schwartz Sheffer for 34 years. A former Troy resident, he lived in Pittstown for the past 25 years. He was a graduate of Troy High School and the CDL Training School in Menands. Mr. Sheffer was a truck driver for Seagrott Floral Supply of Berlin. He previously worked at Gardenway Manufacturing in Troy for 17 years and for Norton Co. of Watervliet for nine years. He was also a self-employed landlord in Troy for many years. He was a graduate of the Rensselaer County Entrepreneur Program and derived great enjoyment from building wooden display cases. He was founding member of the Trouble Club and developed a special bond with his friends, Ralph Alesio, Terry Bopp, Mike Hartnett, Tim Christian, Paul Gray, and many others who entertained and sustained Chuck through good times and bad. Chuck had a special relationship for over 40 years and many happy times with his brother-in-law, Tony Schwartz. Chuck was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather with many good friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Survivors in addition to his faithful and loving wife Mary, include a daughter, Dawn Perkins and husband Steve of Troy; a son, Charles T. Sheffer Jr. of Johnstown, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Maya Sierra Sheffer, Ember Autumn-Skye Smiley Sheffer and Sage Nicole Missy Perkins, all of Troy; two sisters, Mary (Gordon) Nicholson of Saratoga Springs and Jean (Mike) Shannon of Troy; two brothers, Robert (Susan) Sheffer of West Sand Lake and Thomas (Jean) Sheffer of Pittstown. Also survived by two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and his very lonely dog, Buster. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Burial will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
