Luby, Christian "Chris" William
LANSINGBURGH - Christian "Chris" William Luby, 54, of Lansingburgh, N.Y., unexpectedly passed away on November 3, 2025. Born on September 24, 1971, Chris lived a full, hardworking, and heartfelt life. Over the years, he called many places home, from Colonie to Cohoes, but he made his lasting home in Lansingburgh.
Chris was a dedicated electrician who took great pride in his work, and loved sharing his knowledge with his kids, always eager to teach them the tricks of the trade. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, whether he was in the woods hunting, spending a quiet morning fishing, or out on the golf course enjoying a round with friends. Nature and simple pleasures were his place of calm.
He was also a talented cook, known for his amazing dinners that were always made with love, and shared with the people who meant the most to him.
He loved his family fiercely, his children, Skylar, Ethan, and Mason Luby, who were his greatest pride and joy; and his longtime companion, Cindy Waldron. He is also survived by his father, Richard (Donna) Luby; his sister, Shary Luby (Braithwaite); his niece and nephew, Amelia and Fletcher Braithwaite from Australia; his stepbrother Jeremy (Anastasia) Smith; his lifelong friend Brian Barrett; and the family dog, Shea, whom he loved and adored. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Iberger; his grandmother and grandfather, Amelia and William "Bill" Waters, whom he shared a special bond with.
Chris was stubborn in the best way, strong-willed, determined, and deeply loyal. He loved his family, his friends, and anyone close to his kids as if they were his own. His heart was big, and his love will be remembered in every story told around the dinner table, or every peaceful morning spent outdoors.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. A prayer service will commence at 12 p.m., and interment will follow in St. Basil's Orthodox Cemetery, Maplewood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends honor Chris by spending a day doing what he loved, fishing, cooking a meal for someone you love, golfing, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
The family would especially like to thank Chris's good friend, Nick Manupella, for his heroic efforts trying to help Chris at the end, as well as Nick's wife, Jill Manupella, who kept the family updated during this difficult time.
