Christine Kronau Obituary

Kronau, Christine M. Frokedal
AVERILL PARK - Christine M. Frokedal Kronau, 84, died on Monday, October 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Frokedal and Mary R. Cornell Frokedal, and wife of the late John C. Kronau.
She was raised in Brooklyn, Queens, and moved to Averill Park in 1955, and was a 1956 graduate of Averill Park High School. Chris married John C. Kronau in 1956 and together they raised seven children at their home in Burden Lake.
Chris worked in town her entire career. Her employment started in the dental office of Dr. Dunn DDS. She worked for Key Bank in the West Sand Lake branch. The jobs she loved the most were her 32 years serving the Town of Sand Lake as receiver of taxes, town clerk, and councilperson, retiring in 2017. She continued her service as coordinator and volunteer driver for the Sand Lake community van during her retirement.
Chris enjoyed quilting with her friends, reading, and her crossword puzzles. Her happiest moments were always spent with her family, gathering on holidays and especially summer vacations at the beach. She was a communicant of St. Henry's Church and served as a children's religious educator and a eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Sand Lake Seniors.
Survivors include her children, Mary C. Kronau, Jay C. Kronau, Michael H. Kronau, Jeffery W. (Victoria) Kronau, Kiki M.(Robert) Hart, Kristi K. (Kirk Gansky) Kronau, and Jennifer L. McIntyre; her grandchildren, Mijo, Mandi, Ashlee, Maddy, Andrea, Cassie, Isabella, Katy, Bailey, Kyle, Madison, Chase, and Grady; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Caden, Mila, Callum, and expecting her fifth great-grandchild; her sister, Margaret N. Petreshock; and her in-laws, the Hon. Lawrence (Delores) Kronau, Kevin (Dale) Kronau, and Stephanie M. Kronau, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, George F. Frokedal.
Relatives and friends may call at the St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park, on Wednesday, October 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Christine M. Kronau, to the Sand Lake Ambulance, P.O. Box 222, West Sand Lake, NY, 12196 or Averill Park and Sand Lake Fire Company, Eastern Union Turnpike, Averill Park, NY, 12018.

Mrs. K. was a blessing to our family. She was our father's right hand man for so many years at the dental office. When our mom passed away she stepped up to help in countless ways. The whole family took my sister Martha and I in the mix. Kiki and Martha were in the same class at St Henry's Elementary School, and became best friends. Mike was in my class. He teased me a lot!
When our daughter got married, I reached out to say thank you for essentially being the mother of the bride for me at our wedding forty years ago next year.
Love to all the Kronau clan!
Sincerely,
Laura Dunn and Rick Cline
